Kiln Stilt 'Beach' Frame

Kirkcaldy in Fife was a major producer of pottery during the 19th & 20th centuries. These kiln stilts were used to support pottery when being fired in the kilns. With the closure of the factories, the used stilts and other items were disposed of into the Forth in the Seafield area and they continue to wash up on the beach over 100 years later. Naturally grey in colour, I have painted them to reflect the time they have spent in the sea before being rescued & reloved. They are presented in a 23 x 23cm white wooden frame with glass front
